We’re a third-generation, family-owned collision repair business serving Palm Beach County since 1979. Repair the vehicle properly. Take care of the customer. Stand behind the work. That philosophy started with a father and son more than 45 years ago, and it still guides us today.

From Cuba to a Family Shop

Our family’s American story began in 1969, when the Gonzalez family came to the United States from Cuba. Santiago Gonzalez was a natural craftsman who passed his skill and his love of cars to his son, Robert Gonzalez. In 1979, the two of them opened the family shop — and the standard they set then is the same one we hold today: do good work, treat people fairly, and take pride in every vehicle that leaves the shop.

Robert built on that foundation with continuing education and better technology, including computerized laser frame measuring and a modern PPG waterborne paint system. He became an I-CAR Platinum Individual and spent years as an I-CAR instructor, teaching other shops around the industry.

The Third Generation: An Attorney in the Shop

Robert “Bobby” Gonzalez grew up sweeping the shop floor, watching what happens after a serious accident — damaged vehicles, injured customers, families whose lives were suddenly disrupted. Those experiences led him to law school, where he built a personal injury-focused law practice representing people injured in crashes.

He never left the automotive world behind. Today, Bobby is actively involved in the family business while continuing to lead his law practice — giving GONZ a perspective that’s rare in collision repair: we understand both sides of the crash.

Your Independent Dealership Alternative

Modern vehicles are sophisticated safety systems — structural materials, airbags, sensors, cameras, and ADAS all play a role in how a vehicle responds in a collision. Making a damaged vehicle look good again is only part of the job. Our concern isn’t just how your vehicle looks when it leaves — it’s how it was repaired.

We work with insurance companies every day, but the insurance company is not our customer — the vehicle owner is. An insurance estimate doesn’t replace our responsibility to independently evaluate the damage and determine what’s actually necessary. When questions come up, we research it, document it, and explain it — and Bobby’s legal background gives us an edge in advocating for the right repair when it matters.

We call GONZ an Independent Dealership Alternative: independent, because we work for you, not the insurer; dealership alternative, because you shouldn’t have to sacrifice professionalism or technical expertise just because you chose a family-owned shop. We’ve also held a wholesale motor vehicle dealer license for more than 25 years, with longstanding industry relationships that make the repair process easier — including convenient rental car access.

Our Family Name Is on the Work

From Santiago, to Robert, to Bobby today, our family name has been tied to automotive repair in Palm Beach County for nearly five decades. We live here, we work here, and our reputation was built here. When we put our name behind a repair, we stand behind it — and we intend for the GONZ name to mean something for generations to come.
