One of the most common questions we hear at Gonz Auto Collision Center is “how long will my repair take?” The honest answer is that it depends on several factors, but here’s what typically drives the timeline for an insurance-covered collision repair.
We start with a visual inspection, usually same-day or next-day, to give you a preliminary estimate. This is a starting point, not the final word, since some damage isn’t visible until the vehicle is disassembled.
Once we submit the estimate, your insurer reviews and approves it. This step usually takes anywhere from a day to about a week depending on the carrier and how complex the claim is. We work directly with most major insurance companies to help keep this part moving.
Parts availability can be one of the biggest variables. Common parts for popular models are often on hand quickly, while parts for less common vehicles or specialty parts can take longer to arrive from the manufacturer.
As a general rule of thumb, minor cosmetic repairs like bumper or panel work can take a few days, while more significant structural or frame damage can take one to two weeks or more. Once your car is in our shop for active repair, we’ll give you a realistic timeline and keep you updated on progress.
Before your car goes home, we do a full quality inspection, wash and detail it, and make sure everything matches factory specifications. Most complete collision repairs, from drop-off to pickup, take about one to two weeks, though smaller jobs can be faster and major structural repairs can take longer. We’ll always give you our best estimate up front and keep you posted if anything changes.
